About Jersey Aquatic Center

Jersey Aquatic Swim School was built around a simple belief: swim lessons should shape a child's life, not just their stroke. Our families saw that firsthand. Our kids grew up swimming for Jim Wood, and the experience changed them in lasting ways. Jim taught technique, discipline, and race preparation, but he also taught the habits that matter outside the pool: showing up, staying accountable, handling pressure, and supporting teammates. As Jim said, "A coach's main job is not to take young athletes and create great swimmers, but to take young athletes and create great adults." That mission is still the foundation of our swim school today. Every level, from early water confidence to advanced training, is designed to help swimmers progress with patience, structure, and pride. The Jersey Aquatic Center gives us the space to do that well, with four dedicated pools: an Olympic-sized competition pool, a smaller training pool, a teaching pool for swim school, and an aquatherapy pool for those with health needs, plus an extensive weight training room. We remain deeply grateful for Jim's influence and committed to carrying it forward for children across New Providence through the values written on the bottom of our pool: Pride, Courage, Humility, Respect, Commitment, Integrity, Accountability, and Perseverance.
